PINAR OCAK

She was born on May 22, 1982 in Istanbul. She completed her secondary and high school educations at Kartal Burak Bora Anatolian High School. She graduated from Uludag University Faculty of Medicine in July 2007 with the second highest honors degree. She started her specialization at Uludag University Department of Neurosurgery in September of the same year and completed it in September 2013. She completed her obligatory public service at Hakkari Yuksekova State Hospital between November 2013 and March 2015. Between May 2015 and September 2016, she worked as staff neurosurgeon at Yozgat State Hospital.

 

In 2011, she passed the Turkish Neurosurgery Association proficiency exam. She succeeded in the written and oral exams of the European Board of Neurological Surgery in 2014 and in 2016, respectively and won the title of the Fellow of the European Board of Neurological Surgery (FEBNS). 

 

In 2016, she received a scholarship to study abroad from the Turkish Neurosurgery Association. Between September 2016 and July 2017, she worked as a research fellow and clinical observer at the University of Wisconsin, Department of Neurosurgery. Between July 2017 and May 2019, she worked as a visiting research scholar at Loma Linda University, Department of Physiology & Pharmacology, Zhang Neuroscience Lab and received training in neuroscience. During this period, she took part in many projects supported by the National Health Institute (NIH). She also completed her own project on blood brain barrier damage following surgical brain injury. In May 2019, she worked as a clinical observer at Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University, Department of Neurosurgery, Neuromodulation Center. In June 2019, she started to work as an instructor at Uludag University, Department of Neurosurgery. By the decision of the board of the department, she was envisaged to specialize in stereotactic, functional, pain and epilepsy surgery.
