İRFAN KIRIŞTIOĞLU

He was born in 1963, Devrekani in Kastamonu. In 1980, he graduated from Kocamustafapaşa High School in Istanbul. In 1986, he graduated the Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. Between 1986-1987, he did his compulsory service in Uluborlu Health Center in Isparta. In 1987-1988, he completed his military service in Erzurum. He completed his specialty education in 1994 at the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Uludag University Faculty of Medicine and in 1994 he specialized in the same department. Between 1996 and 1997, he conducted researches on TPN immunology at the University of Michigan, Section of Pediatric Surgery in USA, and clinical observations. In November 1999, he became Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery. In July 2005, he was promoted to Professor of Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Kiristioglu has 34 articles published in international journals and these works are cited 370 times. He also has many articles published in national journals and papers in Turkey and abroad. He is on the scientific advisory board of 4 journals, one of which is Nutrition. He was on the editorial board of two international congresses. He was a member of Uludag University Medical Faculty Medical Research Ethics Committee, Nutrition Unit and Appraisal Criteria Evaluation Commission. Between March 2011 and April 2014, he was appointed as a vice Dean and from May 2014 to April 2015 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. He is currently working as a faculty member in Department of Pediatric Surgery. He is interested in horse riding and Turkish decorative arts. Dr. Kiriştioglu is married and has two children.
