Department's Brief History

After the entry into force of the Higher Education Law (November 6, 1981), biophysics courses were offered in the second year of the medical and dental faculties. In 1982, the Departments of Medical Physics or Biophysics at several large universities were transformed into Biophysics Departments of Physiology Departments and biophysics courses were given. In 1987, with a new amendment to the Higher Education Law, Biophysical Sciences was structured as the Departments of Basic Medical Sciences. In this process of 1987, the Department of Biophysics in Uludağ University, Faculty of Medicine, was established. The head of the Department of Physiology on November 5, 2004 was appointed as the chairman of the Department of Biophysics with no staff until 2004. Dr. Engin Sağdilek completed his specialization In the Department of Physiology and his staff was transferred to the Biophysics Department. He has been appointed as a PhD student in the Department of Biophysics, Ege University Institute of Health Sciences on behalf of Uludağ University. After completing his PhD in 2010, he returned to Uludağ University. In October 2011, Sağdilek was appointed to the post of faculty member and head of department. The Department of Biophysics has started its academic activities since the academic year of 2011-2012.
 

Location and Infrastructure

In June 2010, the Department of Biophysics began its active work at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences with two rooms allocated to the department. The other room next to the faculty room is used as the Biophysics Research Laboratory.
 

Resident Training Process

There is no graduate program in Biophysics.
 

Research Areas and Service Areas

Hemostasis, platelet functions are the main study areas.
Perceptual, cognitive and motor functions are also evaluated.
