Uludag University, Department of Emergency Medicine was founded in 1995 by the general surgeons; Prof. Dr. Rıfat Tokyay, Dr.Ceyhun İrgil, Dr.Halil Özgüç and Dr.Ekrem Kaya.The first research assistants started to work with the Medical Specialty Examination in 1996 and the first emergency medicine specialist graduated in 1998.

 

The Department of Emergency Medicine is located on the ground floor of the Health Application Research Center in Görükle. Emergency Medicine is available for 365 days a year, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.The department is available for the urgent complaints and requests of the patient in the hospital admission.

 

Research assistants take the title of specialist after completing the training period of 48 months. The obligatory rotation departments are; Anesthesiology and Reanimation (1 month), General Surgery (1 month), Internal Medicine(1 month), Cardiology (1 month), Pediatrics (2 months), Gynecology and Obstetrics (1 month), Neurology or Chest Diseases (1 month), Orthopedics and Traumatology or Radiology (1 month). Researchers are receiving training in triage, intervention rooms, observation rooms, surgical field and trauma in emergency department.

 

Specialist students receive theoretical trainings on a daily basis and weekly basis.At the same time, trainings are organized for general practitioners in Bursa Provincial Health Directorate, 112 ambulances and other emergency services.
The physicians in the department are active in national and international congresses held throughout the year and continue their education.
In addition, they produce many scientific researches every year and contribute to the literature.
