Are you a (bio)medical student and interested in learning about the latest (bio)medical research?
The International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences (ISCOMS) is the world’s leading student congress in the field of (bio)medical sciences and attracts more participants each year. This year, the 29th edition will take place physically again from the 8th until the 10th of June 2022 at the University Medical Centre Groningen.
The programme of ISCOMS consists of a pre-course focused on improving your research skills and three congress days. During these days there will be several keynote lectures from world renowned speakers including Nobel Prize laureate 2011, regental professor Bruce Beutler MD, who will give a lecture about ‘From phenotypes to gene immunity’. The lecture will outline how Toll(like)receptors detect microorganisms and activate out innate immunity and how TNF is involved in inflammatory diseases. Furthermore, you can attend presentations about high quality research done by students, you can take part in interactive workshops and you can attend an interesting patient lecture. On the last day of the congress you can attend a groundbreaking surgery in which the removal of a tongue carcinoma will be performed using fluorescence. On top of all this, we will host an exciting social programme to give participants a chance to broaden their networks and get to know each other!
ISCOMS 2022 will take place in Groningen at the UMCG. The main focus of the congress will be on physical participation, but we are aware that some of you are not able to come to the congress in Groningen. Since we want to give everyone the opportunity to experience ISCOMS, several elements will take place digitally as well. These elements include various interactive workshops and IMED talks in which professionals will tell about their career and what you can learn from them. Furthermore, we will host ISCOMS 2022 in Groningen within the confines of the COVID-19 measures of the Netherlands. Thus, irrespective of the COVID-19 situation, ISCOMS 2022 will definitely take place!
